Book club

Because reading is better with good company and a side of Italian food.

Read. Chat. Eat.

A monthly online book club for readers who want more than just another hyped-up BookTok pick.

Open books

A bookish community.

Your people.

In one place.

Each month, we meet on Zoom for a fun, relaxed book discussion (no complex literary analysis, promise), and you get access to a private Slack community where the bookish chat never stops.

Oh, and because books and food just belong together, you also get a curated Italian recipe each month to pair with your read - easy, delicious, no weird speciality ingredients required.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Monthly book pick

We read a mix of contemporary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and thrillers. Some BookTok darlings, but mostly the underrated gems you haven’t already seen 100 times.

Live Zoom discussion

Casual but engaging, like chatting about books with friends (but everyone actually reads the book). And if life happens, you can catch up later with the recording.

Private Slack community

Dedicated channels for book picks, memes, genre chats, and (of course) food. But less overwhelming than a Facebook group with 50k members where most of your posts get lost.

Monthly Italian recipe

Each month, you also get a curated Italian recipe to pair with your read - easy, delicious, no weird speciality ingredients required, often straight from my very own recipe book.

Early access to retreats

As a member, you enjoy 24 hour priority access to reading retreats which lets you book exactly the room you want - before everyone else.

Exclusive discount

Books + travel? Yes, please. Your membership gets you an exclusive $50 discount that you can put towards your retreat ticket.

Your new bookish home.

You want to discover amazing books that aren’t everywhere. You’re tired of overhyped books that don’t live up to your expectations.

Join a book club that’s actually fun, low pressure and feels like you’ve finally found your people.

Italian pasta dish

Most book clubs give you a reading list - this one gives you a recipe too. Every month, you’ll get an easy-to-make Italian dish, often straight from my own family’s recipe book.

No complicated ingredients or spending hours in the kitchen - just simple, delicious food to enjoy while you read (or bring to book club night!). Because books and food simply belong together.

Recipes

Blonde woman smiling at the camera with a book in her hand

Originally from the North of Italy, I now live on the beautiful Kāpiti Coast in New Zealand and when I'm not reading, I run a marketing consultancy.

I have always been obsessed with food and - unfortunately for me, great for you - growing up in Italy has raised my standards to an insanely high level.

I can’t wait to share the dishes I grew up with back at home through this book club ❤️

Hi, I’m Hanna!

…and I also love books, obviously.

  • Harry Potter - my all-time favourite series. It's mandatory to have at least one Harry Potter marathon and/or reread each year. Ideally, more.

Other honourable mentions from my childhood:

    • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

    • Eragon by Christopher Paolini

    • Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

    • Psychological thrillers

    • Historical fiction, particularly anything set in Ancient Rome, WW1 & WW2 or the Victorian period

    • Fantasy

    • Long chapters (I'm talking 100+ pages, who has time for that?)

    • When my kindle shows the position instead of the page number or time left in the chapter...gross.

    • Books with stickers on the cover. Especially when you can't remove them.

    • Books with movie adaptation covers.

  • Wanna be friends on Goodreads? Yes, please! Here's me.

Books I will never stop recommending

The Nightingale
The Kite Runner
The Song of Achilles
The House in the Cerulean Sea
The Housemaid
This Is How You Lose the Time War
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Local Woman Missing
The Good Lie
A Court of Thorns and Roses

FAQs

  • No, at this stage, the monthly book isn’t included in your membership fee, but I’ll share links to where you can get it - both in print and for e-readers.

  • Sure, but those are often chaotic, unstructured, and filled with books you already know about. This club is about quality discussions, unique picks, and a real sense of community. And you would miss out on delicious recipes too.

  • Let’s be honest: if we only read when we ‘have time,’ we’d still be on page 12 of last year’s TBR. But I get it, sometimes life happens. You can come to the meeting whether you finish the book or not. The discussion is fun either way. And you also have the community channel to meet new bookish friends & chat.

  • That’s part of the fun! You’ll discover books outside your usual comfort zone, and even if it’s not your favourite, the discussion always makes it worth it. Honestly, some of the best chats happen over divisive books.

  • Nope! Both Slack and Zoom are free to use, no extra costs for you. I picked them because they’re user-friendly and won’t add to your expenses.

Both are available for your phone & desktop.
